Granted, there is an extensive set of chapter-based endnotes (and I strongly suggest reading them, they're as engaging as the book itself), but the lack of footnotes is a serious flaw. She apparently wrote the book for a solely British audience, as there are many cultural and societal references that are lost on the non-Brit reader. Well, it's a fine book, pix are first-class, a keeper -- except it's in GERMAN and I don't speak German!. The end result makes the sequence seem unintentionally dramatic if not downright cinematic. A good book, known by few, written by an even less well known author, to which I am grateful. Brian Lamb is a brilliant and trusted interviewer - I love C-Span and especially their Book/TV on the weekends where I get ideas for good reads. The original film was a good work.But, all in all, this film is right on for the younger audience (under 8). I have been a Realtor for over 20 years and find it informative and practical. The good times recounted far outweighed the bad. The story is entertaining but can be long for 4 and 5 year-olds.The story faults, in that it employs too many characters with no character development, which adds unnecessary confusion and clutter to the story.
